Are you a Peaceful Warrior?
When working with my Meta-ET (TM) clients, I typically see that the issue that plagues us all is the same one. We tend to struggle to control that which we feel we are victim to. It is really quite sad to see people frantically scurrying around in the outer realms, doing all they can do to right the wrongs. Inevitably, they fail, and then the beliefs of not being good enough are compounded with more evidence to prove it is so. It is time to move past just saying words and thinking thoughts. It is time to practice what we preach.
Last night, I watched the movie Peaceful Warrior yet again. I’d seen it years ago, but recent discussions about watching it with the Sunday School teenagers I teach compelled me to buy the movie to stash in my “spiritual movie” collection. I am so glad I did! The movie is an excellent reminder of the human spirit’s ability to overcome what often seems to be insurmountable odds. One of my favorite parts is when Soc (short for the nickname Socrates and the symbolic representation of Consciousness) tells the young athlete to take out the trash. The boy reacts in anger and tells the gas station owner to take out his own trash! Soc points to the boy’s head and replies, “I mean take out the trash that is in your head.”
To prove how a blank mind serves us better and forces us to stay in the now, Soc invites the young man to meet him on a bridge the following day. The boy is rushed for time and shows up late, asking Soc to make it quick because he has more important things to do. Soc agrees and then throws the screaming young man over the bridge into the freezing river below. An angry boy emerges from the river, screaming at the top of his lungs! Soc explains that it took that to free his mind from all the pointless thinking. He asks the young man, “When you were falling were you thinking of your grocery list? The tryouts that you are in such a hurry to get to? When you are going to do your laundry?” The boy answers no…he wasn’t thinking of anything. Soc then explains that in that moment he was in the “now” experience and thoughts left him. He could not put into words what was happening in those few seconds. He tells the boy, “You had no time to think. The only word you could come up with was aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.”
If we could live in this state of emptiness, we would finally realize where all control comes from. You see, it has never and will never be within our reach. We are not the ones doing and being all that is happening in the outer world. Our mortal brain doesn’t have the capacity to handle the enormous amounts of tasks it takes to cause us to interact in this physical realm of being human. It is merely the receiver and translator of information given to it by something outside of the body. Consciousness is doing all of it…through us, as us…and surrendering to it is the fastest and easiest way to the life of our dreams. But surrender, you see, requires us to quiet the ego that believes it has all the right answers.
When we quiet the mind and go within, we connect effortlessly to the Consciousness that lives as us. We ask it–not with words, but with feelings–to express goodness all around. We do this by feeling good. As we resonate with high vibrations of gratitude and love, we become invigorated and inspired. The actions coming from that state of being almost seem magical and miraculous. Suddenly, everything is going our way. How could this be? It is so easy because we are no longer trying to manipulate the world around us to get what we want. We are following…not leading.
When you are ready to stop struggling with the life you are given, you will let go of this incessant need to control the world around you. You will laugh at yourself for ever having tried! You will finally realize that you are truly not alone in this world of things. You are always partnered with a higher Consciousness, and the easiest way to control the circumstances in your life is by letting go of the war against Consciousness. The real warriors in life come from the most peaceful state. And guess what? This Consciousness adores you! It absolutely believes you are worthy of a grand life. It quietly lurks in the recesses of your subconscious mind, waiting for you to ask it to take over so it can prove to you how magnificent you are.
I encourage you to stop trying to lead…sit back and follow in the stillness of the moment. Consciousness knows exactly what to do and how to do it. Just follow its lead and watch how magnificently it maneuvers through life. Stop giving away your power to other people or outside circumstances. Consciousness controls them as well. All of this is coming from the One Mind. You need never go elsewhere for the answers you seek.
The fastest way to win is to surrender. Who would have guessed?
